Starting Sunday, June 4, the contractor will begin lining and curing a S.R. A1A (N Atlantic Avenue) storm drainpipe at Driftwood Avenue in Daytona Beach, Volusia County. This operation will require temporary continuous roadway closures in the vicinity of drainage manholes along the following roadway segments on the following days:
On Sunday, June 4, and Monday, June 5, Wilmans Boulevard will be fully closed to through traffic. Local traffic access along Wilmans Boulevard will be maintained, and the contractor will guide residents through the closure and to their homes as needed.
Tuesday, June 6, through Thursday, June 8, N Halifax Avenue at Wilmans Boulevard will be fully closed to through traffic. Friday, June 9, and Saturday, June 10, N Halifax Avenue at Chipeway Avenue will be fully closed to through traffic. The contractor will maintain local traffic access to properties along this stretch of roadway during both closures as needed. Motorists will be guided by signage during both closures, and the following detour will be in place:
- Motorists traveling northbound on N Halifax Avenue approaching Wilmans Boulevard will be directed to turn right onto University Boulevard, turn left onto Belair Drive, and then turn left onto Flagstone Drive to return to N Halifax Avenue.
- Motorists traveling southbound on N Halifax Avenue approaching Wilmans Boulevard will be directed to turn left onto Flagstone Drive, turn right onto Belair Drive, and then turn right onto University Boulevard to return to N Halifax Avenue.
Throughout the pipe lining process, residents may notice an unavoidable “plastic-like” odor from the resin used to cure the storm drain liner. The odor is not harmful, and steps will be taken to minimize the impacts to nearby residents and businesses while work is underway.
The construction schedule may change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Please continue to visit this webpage for the most current closure and project information.
