The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is resurfacing 24 miles of northbound and southbound Interstate 95 (I-95) from south of Malabar Road (State Road (S.R.) 514) to north of Fiske Boulevard (S.R. 519). The ramps at the following interchanges will also be repaved: Malabar Road, Palm Bay Road (County Road (C.R.) 516), U.S. 192, S.R. 518 (Eau Gallie Boulevard), S.R. 404 (Pineda Causeway), Wickham Road, and Fiske Boulevard.

Other improvements include building barriers to protect the overpass piers at Minton Road, S.R. 404, and Viera Boulevard, applying new deck coatings on the bridges over S.R. 518 and Lake Washington Road, upgrading pavement markings, and improving the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS).

Lane Closures
  • Motorists are advised that the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will implement overnight ramp closures at the Interstate 95 (I-95) and U.S. 192 interchange (Exit 180) in West Melbourne, beginning as early as Sunday night, December 14, through Tuesday night, December 16, with the final ramp reopening on the morning of Wednesday, December 17.

    Please see the anticipated schedule and detour information below:

    On Sunday, December 14, and Monday, December 15, the northbound I-95 off-ramp to U.S. 192 (Exit 180) will be closed on both nights from 9 p.m.  through 5 a.m. the next morning. 

    • Motorists traveling northbound on I-95 who wish to access U.S. 192 should continue north and exit at Ellis Road (Exit 182). Motorists should then re-enter I-95 heading southbound and continue south to U.S. 192 (Exit 180).

    On Tuesday night, December 16, the northbound I-95 entrance ramp from U.S. 192 will be closed overnight from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next morning, Wednesday, December 17.

    • Eastbound Detour: Motorists traveling eastbound on U.S. 192 who wish to access northbound I-95 should continue east to South John Rodes Boulevard, turn left, and travel north to Ellis Road. From there, turn left onto Ellis Road and continue west to access the northbound I-95 entrance ramp.
    • Westbound Detour: Motorists traveling westbound on U.S. 192 who wish to access northbound I-95 should continue west to St. Johns Heritage Parkway/Ellis Road, turn right, and travel north to access the northbound I-95 entrance ramp.

    These closures, which are necessary for paving operations, are the third in a series of planned ramp closures for the I-95 resurfacing project in Brevard County.

    FDOT encourages all roadway users to drive, walk and ride with caution and courtesy! 

  • Motorists should expect overnight ramp closures at the Interstate 95 (I-95) and Palm Bay Road interchange (Exit 176) in Palm Bay, beginning as early as Monday night, December 8, through Thursday night, December 11, with the final ramp reopening on the morning of Friday December 12. These closures are necessary for paving operations.

    Please see the anticipated schedule and detour information below:

    Monday, Dec. 8, and Tuesday, Dec. 9, the northbound I-95 off-ramp to Palm Bay Road (Exit 176) will be closed from 9 p.m. each night through 5 a.m. the next morning. 

    • Detour: Motorists traveling northbound on I-95 who wish to access Palm Bay Road should continue north and exit at U.S. 192 (Exit 180). Motorists should then re-enter I-95 heading southbound and continue south to Palm Bay Road (Exit 176).

    Wednesday, Dec. 10, and Thursday, Dec. 11, the I-95 entrance ramp from Palm Bay Road will be closed from 9 p.m. each night through 5 a.m. the next morning. 

    • Eastbound Detour: Motorists traveling eastbound on Palm Bay Road who wish to access northbound I-95 should continue east to Hollywood Boulevard, turn left, and travel north to U.S. 192. From there, turn left onto U.S. 192 and continue west to access the northbound I-95 on-ramp.
    • Westbound Detour: Motorists traveling westbound on Palm Bay Road who wish to access northbound I-95 should continue west to Minton Road, turn right, and travel north to U.S. 192. From there, turn left onto U.S. 192 and continue west to access the northbound I-95 on-ramp.
