About

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is resurfacing two miles of State Road (S.R.) 401 from S.R. 528 to the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. The entrance and exit ramps at S.R. 528 will also be repaved, extending the life of the roadway.

Additional improvements include upgrading pavement markings, improving the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS), upgrading guardrails, and improving the existing northbound and southbound movable bridge signals.

Lane Closures
  • Motorists are advised that the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will implement overnight ramp closures at State Road (S.R.) 528 and S.R. 401 beginning as early as Tuesday night, December 16, through Thursday night, December 18, with the final ramp reopening on the morning of Friday, December 19.

    Please see the anticipated schedule and detour information below:

    • The ramp from eastbound S.R. 528 to northbound S.R. 401 will be closed overnight from 6 p.m. Tuesday, December 16, to 4 a.m. Wednesday, December 17.
      • Detour: Motorists traveling eastbound on S.R. 528 wishing to access northbound S.R. 401 should continue east to George King Boulevard, make a U-turn, continue west on S.R. 528, and continue onto S.R. 401 (Exit 54A) to access northbound S.R. 401.
    • On Wednesday, December 17 and Thursday, December 18, the ramp from westbound S.R. 528 to northbound S.R. 401 will be closed on both nights from 6 p.m. through 4 a.m. the next morning.
      • Detour: Motorists traveling westbound on S.R. 528 wishing to access northbound S.R. 401 should continue west to (Exit 52) and turn left onto Banana River Drive, then re-enter the entrance ramp for eastbound S.R. 528 to reach the entrance ramp for northbound S.R. 401

    These closures are needed for paving activities.
