About

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is enhancing safety and operations at the intersection of State Road (S.R.) 436 and S.R. 434. The project includes upgrading the traffic signal system with new mast arm signal poles, removing free-flow right-turn lanes, and placing all turning movements under signal control. Additional improvements include upgraded pedestrian crosswalks, signals, and widened turn lanes, supporting FDOT’s broader initiative to improve roadway accessibility for all modes of transportation.

During construction, motorists should expect occasional lane closures at varying times throughout the project corridor. For work taking place within 600 feet of a signalized intersection, single lane closures will be limited to the hours of 8:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. Outside of these areas, single lane closures may occur at any time. Double lane closures, however, will only take place between 8:00 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. when outside the limits of a signalized intersection. Additionally, low-profile barrier walls may be installed, leading to slight adjustments in lane widths, and pedestrian detours will be clearly marked with signage to ensure safety around the work zones.

  • Sunday, February 1 to Thursday, February 5, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning: Motorists can expect multiple lane closures over the course of five days, with different lane configurations being required depending on the work being performed. The anticipated lane closures and associated detours are outlined below:

    Sunday, Feb. 1

o   S.R. 436 Westbound: Lane closures are expected in the outside through lanes, right-turn lane, and the inside left-turn lane onto southbound S.R. 434. The innermost through lane and outside left-turn lane will remain open.

The inside left-turn lane will remain open for traffic turning from southbound S.R. 434 onto eastbound S.R. 436.

    Monday, Feb. 2

o   S.R. 434 Northbound: The right-turn lane will be closed. All remaining through lanes and left-turn lanes will remain open.

o   S.R. 436 Eastbound: Lane closures are expected in the outside through lanes and right-turn lane. The innermost through lane and left-turn lanes onto northbound S.R. 434 will remain open.

    Tuesday, Feb. 3

o   S.R. 436 Westbound: The right-turn lane will be closed. All through lanes and left-turn lanes onto southbound S.R. 434 will remain open.

o   S.R. 434 Northbound: Lane closures are expected in the outside through lane and right-turn lane. The inside through lanes and left-turn lanes onto westbound S.R. 436 will remain open.

    Wednesday, Feb. 4 – Thursday, Feb. 5

o   S.R. 434: Lane closures are expected in the right-turn lanes and outside through lanes in both directions. The inside through lanes and left-turn lanes onto S.R. 436 will remain open.
