447411-1 S.R. 436 at S.R. 434 Intersection Improvements

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) enhanced safety and operations at the intersection of State Road (S.R.) 436 and S.R. 434. The project included upgrading the traffic signal system with new mast arm signal poles, removing free-flow right-turn lanes, and placing all turning movements under signal control. Additional improvements included upgraded pedestrian crosswalks, signals, and widened turn lanes, supporting FDOT’s broader initiative to improve roadway accessibility for all modes of transportation.

During construction, motorists could expect occasional lane closures at varying times throughout the project corridor. For work taking place within 600 feet of a signalized intersection, single lane closures were limited to the hours of 8 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. Outside of these areas, single lane closures could occur at any time. Double lane closures, however, only took place between 8 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. when outside the limits of a signalized intersection. Additionally, low-profile barrier walls were installed, leading to slight adjustments in lane widths, and pedestrian detours were clearly marked with signage to ensure safety around the work zones.
