The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has completed the Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study for State Road (S.R.) 40 from Breakaway Trail to Williamson Boulevard (West and East of I-95) receiving approval in November 2014.

The purpose of this study, located in Volusia County, was to evaluate the roadway, intersection, and capacity improvements needed to address future traffic demand along this regionally significant roadway while also maintaining important freight transport and emergency management mobility. The section of S.R. 40 is designated as an emerging Strategic Intermodal System (SIS) facility and is designated as a hurricane evacuation route.

At this time, future phases (design, right of way, or construction) have not been programmed in FDOT’s Tentative Five-Year Work Program. Please check this website regularly for updates.
