Brevard County Overnight Ramp Closure Advisory, April 12-20
BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – Motorists are advised that the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will implement the following overnight ramp closures for construction and maintenance projects in Brevard County beginning Sunday, April 12.
These closures are necessary to complete paving operations for the Interstate 95 (I-95) and Pineda Causeway (State Road (S.R.) 404) resurfacing projects.
The work schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
FDOT advises motorists to remain alert and follow all posted detour signs.
I-95 RAMP CLOSURES
I-95 FROM SOUTH OF S.R. 50 TO S.R. 46
Overnight Ramp Closures at I-95 Interchanges at S.R. 46 and S.R. 406
Sunday, April 12, to Thursday, April 16: The on-ramp from S.R. 46 to southbound I-95 will be closed nightly from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning, concluding on Friday, April 17.
- Motorists traveling on S.R. 46 who wish to access southbound I-95 should enter northbound I-95 from S.R. 46 and travel north to exit at Deering Parkway (County Road (C.R.) 5A) (Exit 231). From there, turn left onto Deering Parkway and proceed to the southbound I-95 on-ramp.
Sunday, April 12, to Thursday, April 16: The off-ramp to S.R. 406 from southbound I-95 will be closed nightly from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning, concluding on Friday, April 17.
- Motorists traveling southbound on I-95 who wish to access S.R. 406 (Exit 220) should continue south and take the exit for S.R 50 (Exit 215). From there, turn left onto S.R. 50 and proceed to the northbound I-95 on-ramp, then take the exit for S.R. 406 (Exit 220).
Sunday, April 12, to Sunday, April 19: The on-ramp from S.R. 406 to southbound I-95 will be closed nightly from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning, concluding on Monday, April 20.
- Motorists traveling on S.R. 406 who wish to access southbound I-95 should enter northbound I-95 from S.R. 406 and take the exit for S.R. 46 (Exit 223). Motorists may then turn left onto westbound S.R. 46 and proceed to the southbound I-95 on-ramp.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: FDOT is resurfacing approximately 9.7 miles of northbound and southbound I-95 from south of S.R. 50 to S.R. 46 in Titusville and Mims. The project also includes resurfacing the I-95 ramps at the S.R. 50, S.R. 406, and S.R. 46 interchanges.
The northbound I-95 exit ramp to S.R. 46 will be widened to extend the existing right turn lane, facilitating smoother traffic flow. Additional improvements include upgraded ramp lighting, refreshed roadway signs and pavement markings, as well as enhanced traffic management technology to improve safety and travel through the area.

I-95 FROM SOUTH OF MALABAR ROAD TO NORTH OF FISKE BOULEVARD
Overnight Ramp Closures at I-95 Interchanges at Pineda Causeway and Eau Gallie Boulevard
Sunday, April 12: The northbound I-95 off-ramp to Pineda Causeway (Exit 188) will be closed overnight from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning.
- Motorists traveling northbound on I-95 who wish to access Pineda Causeway (Exit 188) should continue north and take the exit for Wickham Road (Exit 191). From there, turn left onto westbound Wickham Road, immediately re-enter southbound I-95, and proceed to the Pineda Causeway exit (Exit 188).
Monday, April 13, to Tuesday, April 14: The northbound I-95 on-ramp from Pineda Causeway will be closed nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, concluding on Wednesday, April 15.
- Motorists traveling eastbound on Pineda Causeway who wish to access northbound I-95 should continue east and turn left onto northbound Wickham Road. From there, continue on Wickham Road as it veers westbound, then proceed west to the northbound I-95 on-ramp.
- Motorists traveling westbound on Pineda Causeway who wish to access northbound I-95 should continue west and turn right onto northbound Lake Andrew Drive. From there, continue north and turn right onto eastbound Wickham Road, then proceed east to the northbound I-95 on-ramp.
Thursday, April 16: The southbound I-95 off-ramp to Eau Gallie Boulevard (Exit 183) will be closed overnight from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, Friday, April 17.
- Motorists traveling southbound on I-95 who wish to access Eau Gallie Boulevard (Exit 183) should continue south on I-95 and exit at Ellis Road (Exit 182). Motorists may then turn left onto eastbound Ellis Road, turn right to re-enter northbound I-95, and proceed to the exit for Eau Gallie Boulevard (Exit 183).
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: FDOT is resurfacing 24 miles of northbound and southbound I-95 from south of Malabar Road (S.R. 514) to north of Fiske Boulevard (S.R. 519). The ramps at the following interchanges will also be repaved: Malabar Road, Palm Bay Road (C.R. 516), U.S. 192, S.R. 518 (Eau Gallie Boulevard), S.R. 404 (Pineda Causeway), Wickham Road, and Fiske Boulevard.
Other improvements include building barriers to protect the overpass piers at Minton Road, S.R. 404, and Viera Boulevard, applying new deck coatings on the bridges over S.R. 518 and Lake Washington Road, upgrading pavement markings, and improving the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS).

MALABAR ROAD (S.R. 514) FROM WEST OF I-95 TO EAST OF BABCOCK STREET (S.R. 507)
Overnight Ramp Closures at I-95 Interchange at Malabar Road
Monday, April 13, to Friday, April 17: The southbound I-95 on-ramp from Malabar Road will be closed overnight from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, concluding on Saturday, April 18.
- Motorists traveling on Malabar Road who wish to access southbound I-95 should turn onto northbound Babcock Street from Malabar Road and continue north to Palm Bay Road. From there, turn left onto westbound Palm Bay Road and continue west to access the southbound I-95 on-ramp.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: FDOT is resurfacing a section of Malabar Road (S.R. 514) from west of I-95 to east of Babcock Street (S.R. 507) in Palm Bay. Additionally, pedestrian curb ramps will be reconstructed to meet current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.

S.R. 404 RAMP CLOSURES
PINEDA CAUSEWAY (S.R. 404) FROM U.S. 1 (S.R. 5) TO S.R. A1A
Overnight Ramp Closures at Pineda Causeway Interchanges at U.S. 1 and South Tropical Trail
Sunday, April 12, and Monday, April 13: The ramp from southbound U.S. 1 to eastbound Pineda Causeway will be closed nightly from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, concluding on Tuesday, April 14.
- Motorists traveling southbound on U.S. 1 who wish to access eastbound Pineda Causeway should take the prior exit ramp for westbound Pineda Causeway, continue west to Holy Trinity Drive, and then make a U-turn at the traffic signal onto eastbound Pineda Causeway.
Monday, April 13, to Wednesday, April 15: The ramp from northbound U.S. 1 to eastbound Pineda Causeway will be closed nightly from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, concluding on Thursday, April 16.
- Motorists traveling northbound on U.S. 1 who wish to access eastbound Pineda Causeway should continue north, turn left to exit onto westbound Pineda Causeway, continue west to Holy Trinity Drive, and then make a U-turn at the traffic signal onto eastbound Pineda Causeway.
Wednesday, April 15, and Thursday, April 16: The ramp from eastbound Pineda Causeway to South Tropical Trail will be closed nightly from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, concluding on Friday, April 17.
- Motorists traveling eastbound on Pineda Causeway who wish to access South Tropical Trail should continue east and take the exit for Patrick Space Force Base/South Patrick Drive (S.R. 513). Then, turn left onto northbound South Patrick Drive and turn left to enter westbound Pineda Causeway. From there, proceed west to the South Tropical Trail interchange.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: FDOT is resurfacing Pineda Causeway (S.R. 404) from U.S. 1 (S.R. 5) to S.R. A1A in South Patrick Shores, and the towns of Merritt Island and Palm Shores. The project limits include repaving the interchange ramps at U.S. 1, South Tropical Trail (C.R. 3), and South Patrick Drive (S.R. 513).
The project also includes several operational enhancements, such as reconstructing the existing traffic signal at the intersection of S.R. 404 and S.R. A1A with new mast-arm poles.
Additional improvements include installing wrong-way detection systems on ramps that currently lack them, adding bike lanes adjacent to the right turn-lane at the S.R. A1A intersection and updating the pavement markings for the bike lanes.
