About

This is one of two projects to widen State Road (S.R.) 50 (East Colonial Drive) from Avalon Park Boulevard to Chuluota Road (County Road (C.R.) 419) near Bithlo in Orange County. This segment will widen from Avalon Park Boulevard to east of the Econlockhatchee River bridge. The rest of the corridor will be widened under project 456096-2.

The improved S.R. 50 will have three travel lanes in each direction separated by a raised median.  Full and directional median openings will be provided at certain locations along the corridor.

A new traffic signal is planned at Sherman Street and a new pedestrian crossing equipped with a Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon (PHB) is proposed at Sandy Creek Lane.  After construction, Duke Energy will provide lighting along the entire project corridor.
