452932-1 S.R. 50 at Corner School Drive and Chuluota Road Intersections

This project incorporated safety improvements at the intersections of Corner School Drive and Chuluota Road with State Road (S.R.) 50 (East Colonial Drive) near Bithlo in Orange County. Improvements included the installation of a new traffic signal at the intersection of Corner School Drive and Colonial Drive, as well as new pedestrian signals and crosswalks. At the intersection of Chuluota Road and Colonial Drive, new crosswalks and pedestrian signals were added to the existing traffic signal. New accessible ramps were constructed at both intersections, and intersection lighting was installed.

The intent of this interim safety project was to address pedestrian safety concerns at these two intersections prior to the construction of a project to widen Colonial Drive from east of Avalon Park Boulevard to Chuluota Road (FPID Number 239203-7). At the time, the widening project was expected to begin in Summer 2027.

The project did not require additional right of way.
