239203-7 S.R. 50 Widening from Avalon Park Boulevard to Chuluota Road (C.R. 419)
Project Details
About
The purpose of the project is to increase roadway capacity and enhance safety along State Road (S.R.) 50 (East Colonial Drive) from Avalon Park Boulevard to Chuluota Road (County Road (C.R.) 419) near Bithlo in Orange County. The roadway is experiencing significant congestion and future development indicates the need to widen the road from four to six lanes to serve the community’s needs.
The project proposes to provide three lanes in each direction separated by a raised median. Full and directional median openings will be provided at certain locations along the corridor. Safer accommodations for both bicycles and pedestrians will be included.
Right of way acquisition is underway. Affected property owners will be contacted directly by the FDOT to begin discussions.
The project will be constructed in two phases under new project numbers. The new project numbers will be 456096-1 and 456096-2.
The FDOT will also design and construct a new access road from East River High School to S.R. 50 at the Corner School Drive intersection.
