About
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is proposing improvements to U.S. 41 (Williams Street) from north of the Citrus County line to SW 110th Street in Dunnellon. The project includes resurfacing the entire corridor to extend the life of the roadway. The project will include the reconstruction the U.S. 41 and Pennsylvania Avenue (County Road (C.R.) 484) intersection to eliminate the island and free-flow right turn.
A designated right turn lane will be added to bring all turning movements under signal control for safety. Additionally, the project includes driveway reconstruction to the plaza on the northeast corner of Williams Street and Pennsylvania Avenue to maintain access. Traffic signal upgrades are also proposed at the Pennsylvania Avenue, Powell Road, Brooks Street and SW 110th Street intersections. Pedestrian crosswalks and curb ramps will also be improved to meet current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Daytime and nighttime work is possible. During construction, motorists should expect planned daytime and/or overnight lane closures when needed and possible detours. Electronic message boards and other signage will direct traffic through the work zone.
Uneven pavement is a common condition with projects that require temporary asphalt or resurfacing, as the contractor must place several layers of asphalt over the course of construction. Motorists should reduce speed, heed posted signage and remain alert throughout the work zone. The construction schedule is subject to change due to weather or unexpected circumstances.
