About
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is implementing safety and operational improvements along State Road (S.R.) A1A from Oak Street to U.S. 192 (Fifth Avenue/S.R. 500). To extend the life of the existing roadway, the project includes resurfacing a three-mile segment within the Town of Indialantic and the Town of Melbourne Beach.
The project also includes traffic signal reconstruction at the intersection of S.R. A1A (Ocean Avenue) and Oak Street, lighting upgrades, and additional pedestrian enhancements, including audible features to assist visually-impaired pedestrians.
In addition, sidewalks are being improved, and pedestrian curb ramps are being upgraded to meet current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.

Sunday, November 1 through Friday, November 6, from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. the following morning: Motorists can expect intermittent flagging operations on northbound and southbound S.R. A1A from Oak Street to U.S. 192.
These closures are needed for roadway striping activities and curb ramp work.
FDOT encourages all roadway users to drive, walk and ride with caution and courtesy!
