About
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is implementing safety and operational improvements along State Road (S.R.) A1A from Oak Street to U.S. 192 (Fifth Avenue/S.R. 500). To extend the life of the existing roadway, the project includes resurfacing a three-mile segment within the Town of Indialantic and the Town of Melbourne Beach.
The project also includes traffic signal reconstruction at the intersection of S.R. A1A (Ocean Avenue) and Oak Street, lighting upgrades, and additional pedestrian enhancements, including audible features to assist visually-impaired pedestrians.
In addition, sidewalks will be improved, and pedestrian curb ramps will be upgraded to meet current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.
