About

This project has been completed. The information on this webpage is archived for reference and research purposes.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) implemented improvements on State Road (S.R.) 50 (East Colonial Drive) at Highland Avenue. The existing concrete strain poles supporting the traffic signals at the intersection were replaced with steel mast arms and new signal heads. Pedestrian signals were also upgraded, along with curb reconstruction and sidewalk curb ramp modifications to meet current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards. At the S.R. 50 and Highland Avenue intersection, the curb at all four corners was extended to help define on‑street parking and reduce pedestrian crossing distances. The reconstructed curb better accommodates large vehicles turning onto Highland Avenue.
