446445-2 I-4 Truck Parking - Eastbound Volusia County Site

The purpose of this project is to build a new designated truck parking facility on Interstate 4 (I-4) about 4.8 miles west of Interstate 95 (I-95) at the location of the former rest area. Due to economic growth and the resulting increase in the demand for the delivery of goods, the need for safe parking facilities along our Interstates has become a critical issue for all drivers and our I-4 communities. This project will provide needed truck parking space to serve regional freight parking demand and enhance safety.

The Volusia County eastbound facility will be accessed using entrance and exit ramps on I-4. The Eastbound Volusia County site will provide 146 spaces in 2027 with planned expansion to 225 spaces.  The site will include restrooms, on-site security, lighting, sidewalks/pet walk areas, picnic areas, and landscaping. This site will provide wildlife fencing and wildlife sensitive lighting to preserve the existing wildlife crossing and includes a proposed conservation area.

The site is one of five locations identified through the Truck and Freight Alternative Site Analysis Project Development & Environment (PD&E) Study (FPID No.: 447724-1). The other four sites are being designed under the following project numbers: Seminole County 446445-1; Volusia County westbound 446445-4; Osceola County 446445-5 and Orange County 446445-3.
