This project proposes to improve safety and operations along State Road (S.R.) 46 from French Avenue (U.S. 17-92) to Mellonville Avenue in Sanford. In addition to repaving this segment of S.R. 46, the project recommends widening the sidewalks on both sides of the road to 8 feet. The wider sidewalks will be accommodated within existing right of way by changing the travel lane widths. The outside travel lanes are proposed to be 11 feet wide, and the inside travel lanes 10 feet wide.

To enhance safety, new raised, grassed medians are proposed at various locations throughout the corridor. Exact locations of the medians have not been determined.
