The purpose of this project is to improve traffic operations and safety along State Road (S.R.) A1A by adding midblock crossings and raised landscaped islands within the corridor from Milsap Road to Granada Boulevard (S.R. 40) in Ormond Beach.

The project plans to construct seven new pedestrian crossings equipped with Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs) at:

  • Milsap Road
  • Benjamin Drive
  • River Beach Drive
  • Arlington Way
  • Ormond Parkway
  • Osceola Avenue
  • Bosarvey Drive

A new crossing is also proposed at Rockefeller Drive and will be equipped with a Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon (PHB).

The project also proposes to construct three raised landscaped islands. The islands will range in length from 85 feet to 110 feet and will not impact access to driveways. The planned locations are:

  • North of Wren Road
  • North of Northshore Drive
  • North of Byron Ellis Drive
