The intent of this project is to resolve flooding issues on U.S. 17-92/State Road (S.R.) 15/600 (North Woodland Boulevard) by constructing a bypass stormwater system.
The proposed improvements will incorporate additional drainage inlets, re-route existing flow patterns, and add new underground pipes along the median of North Woodland Boulevard and Mandarin Avenue.
This project will also clear median vegetation, relocate utilities, improve drainage and reconstruct pavement on North Woodland Boulevard and Mandarin Avenue.

Motorists are advised that there will be temporary roadway closures at the intersection of N. Woodland Boulevard (U.S. 17-92; S.R. 15/600) and Mandarin Avenue in DeLand. These closures are necessary to install an underground drainage pipe across the roadway.
- Mandarin Avenue will be closed continuously to traffic from N. Woodland Boulevard beginning 6 a.m. Wednesday, October 4, to as late as 6 a.m. Monday, October 9. Please see the first attachment for a map of this closure.
- In addition to the Mandarin Avenue closure, the southbound lanes of N. Woodland Boulevard at Mandarin Avenue will be closed continuously to traffic from 6 a.m. Thursday, October 5, to as late as 6 a.m. Monday, October 9. Northbound traffic on N. Woodland Blvd will be maintained during this closure. The following detour will be in place:
- Motorists traveling southbound on N. Woodland Boulevard will be directed to turn left onto International Speedway Boulevard (U.S. 92/S.R. 600), then turn right onto Amelia Avenue, and lastly, turn right onto Plymouth Avenue to return to southbound N. Woodland Boulevard. Southbound N. Woodland Boulevard will still be accessible to local traffic north and south of the work zone area at the Mandarin Avenue intersection.
The construction schedule is subject to change pending weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Drivers will be guided around the closures by crews, electronic message boards, and other signage. Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to plan accordingly and seek an alternate route, if possible.
Please follow posted signage, avoid distractions, and drive cautiously in construction zones.
