PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will increase the capacity and improve safety performance of State Road (S.R.) 50 from just east of County Road (C.R.) 757 to C.R. 711. S.R. 50 will be widened from two to four lanes with a 40-foot-wide median.

Median openings and left-turn lanes will be provided to maintain access. Also, FDOT will construct a new two-lane roundabout at the intersection of S.R. 50 and S.R. 471. All new curbs and curb ramps will be constructed to meet current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.

A second project, which has not been scheduled, will increase capacity from C.R. 711 to the Sumter County line and will add a roundabout at S.R. 50 and C.R. 469. Shared-use paths are planned for both projects to run along the south side of S.R. 50 and connect to the Van Fleet Trail.
