About

This project will reconstruct U.S. 17-92 from Shepard Road to Lake Mary Boulevard from a rural four-lane roadway to an urban six-lane roadway. This contract includes construction of a new bridge to replace the existing box culvert at Soldiers Creek.

It also includes milling and resurfacing, drainage improvements, signing and pavement makings, lighting, signals, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). Additionally, water mains and force mains for the City of Sanford and Seminole County will be installed.

Lane Closures
  • Monday, Sept. 28, through Wednesday, Sept. 30, from 8 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. each night: Motorists are advised that County Home Road from U.S. 17-92 to Ronald Reagan Boulevard will be closed to allow for asphalt paving. The following detours will be in place:

    • Northbound U.S. 17-92 motorists approaching Ronald Reagan Boulevard will be advised that County Home Road is closed and directed to turn right onto Eastbound Ronald Reagan Boulevard and travel to the County Home Road intersection. Local traffic will be able to turn left onto westbound County Home Road to access business driveways along County Home Road.
    • Northbound motorists approaching County Home Road will be directed to travel north a quarter mile on U.S. 17-92 to the median crossover, make a U-turn to travel south to Ronald Reagan Boulevard, turn left onto eastbound Ronald Reagan and travel to the County Home Road intersection.
    • Southbound motorists approaching County Home Road will be directed to travel south to Ronald Reagan Boulevard and follow the detour described above.
    • Eastbound motorists on County Home Road will be directed to turn right onto Southbound U.S. 17-92, travel to Ronald Reagan Boulevard and follow the detour described above.
  • 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, through 6:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 2: Motorists are advised that the westbound and eastbound lanes on Silkwood Court from Ronald Reagan Boulevard to U.S. 17-92 will be closed for asphalt paving. The following detours will be in place:

    • Motorists on northbound U.S. 17-92 wanting to travel westbound on Silkwood Court to Ronald Reagan Boulevard will be directed to travel north on U.S.17-92 one block to the Ronald Reagan Boulevard intersection and directed to turn left onto westbound Ronald Reagan Boulevard back to Silkwood Court. 
    • Motorists wanting to travel eastbound on Silkwood Court from Ronald Reagan Boulevard to U.S. 17-92 will be directed to travel one block eastbound on Ronald Reagan Boulevard to the U.S. 17-92 intersection and directed to turn right onto southbound U.S. 17-92 back to Silkwood Court.
    • Motorists on southbound U.S. 17-92 will be directed to turn right onto westbound Ronald Reagan Boulevard instead of turning onto Silkwood Court.
  • Sunday, Sept. 20, through Thursday, Sept. 24, from 8 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. each night: Motorists are advised of alternating single-lane closures during nighttime hours in both directions of travel along U.S. 17-92 at various locations within the project limits for road widening construction, asphalt paving and lane striping. For daytime operations, traffic diversions will be made around construction zones that encroach into the travel lanes. Two 10-foot travel lanes will be maintained at all times for northbound and southbound U.S. 17-92.

  • Tuesday, Sept. 22, through Thursday, Sept. 24, from 8 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. each night: Motorists are advised of a closure in the middle of the Eslinger Way/Tropic Park Drive intersection. This will allow for paving operations and will result in a road closure along eastbound Eslinger Way and westbound Tropic Park Drive. The following detour will be in place:

    • Motorists approaching the Eslinger Way/Tropic Park Drive intersection will not be able to make left turns onto Eslinger Way or Tropic Park Drive. Motorists will be directed to proceed through the intersection and travel to median turn lanes to make a U-turn and return to the intersection to make right turns onto Eslinger Way or Tropic Park Drive.
