The Florida Department of Transportation is widening State Road (S.R.) 423 (John Young Parkway) from four lanes to six lanes beginning at S.R. 50 (West Colonial Drive) and ending at Shader Road. Other improvements includes curb and gutter, drainage, sidewalks, signals, signing and pavement markings, ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems), and two new drainage ponds.

Lane Closures
  • Sunday, Oct. 25, through Thursday, Oct. 29, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.: Lane closures between Shader Road and State Road 50 for mainline paving. 

  • Detours and lane closures are planned at the intersections of John Young Parkway (State Road 423)/Silver Star Road (State Road 438) and John Young Parkway/Shader Road from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 25 through Thursday, Oct. 29. This operation may require right turns only intermittently at the intersections. Therefore, motorists will be required to make U-turns at Lynx Lane and Shader Road for the Silver Star Road intersection. At the Shader Road intersection, U-turns will be required at Silver Star Road and Lee Road/North Orange Blossom Trail. Please note this schedule could change due to weather and other unforeseen circumstances.
