Traffic Advisory: New Traffic Signal Installed at State Road 535 and Interior Street near Kissimmee in Osceola County
OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has installed a new traffic signal at the intersection of State Road (S.R.) 535 (South Apopka-Vineland Road) and Interior Street near Kissimmee in Osceola County.
The signal is operating in flash mode and is expected to become fully operational in the coming days. The signal is intended to improve traffic flow and enhance safety in the area. Drivers on S.R. 535 will encounter a yellow flashing light, which serves as a temporary alert to help motorists adjust to the new signal before it is fully activated with red, yellow, and green lights. While the signal is flashing yellow, drivers should remain alert and proceed with caution. Drivers should yield to pedestrians, bicyclists, or vehicles already in the intersection and ensure it is clear before continuing.
FDOT began construction along S.R. 535 from U.S. 192 in Kissimmee to International Drive in Orlando last fall. In addition to installing the new signal, improvements include resurfacing the roadway, upgrading curb ramps and crosswalks, adding new pavement markings, enhancing signals at key intersections, and modifying access at Poinciana Boulevard to allow only right turns. See the project webpage for more information: https://www.cflroads.com/project/445299-1.
Motorists are encouraged to remain alert and reduce speed when approaching the intersection as drivers and pedestrians adjust to the new signal.
