View project: I-4 at Sand Lake Road Interchange from east of S.R. 528 to west of S.R. 435

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Motorists are advised that the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will implement overnight closures of the westbound Interstate 4 (I-4) exit ramp to Sand Lake Road (State Road (S.R.) 482) at Exit 74A from Wednesday, April 29, through Friday, May 1. The closures will begin as early as 10 p.m. each night and are expected to reopen by 6 a.m. each morning, with the final closure opening on the morning of Saturday, May 2.
These closures are necessary for overhead sign installation and other preparations to support the opening of a new ramp system on Saturday morning, May 2. The new configuration will give motorists traveling from westbound I-4 and westbound Sand Lake Road a more direct connection to Turkey Lake Road while improving safety and easing congestion at Central Florida’s busiest interchange.
Detour information for April 29 to May 1:
Motorists traveling westbound on I-4 who wish to access Sand Lake Road should take Exit 74B onto northbound Adventure Way. From there, motorists can either:
- Turn left onto westbound Hollywood Way, then turn left again onto southbound Turkey Lake Road and proceed to Sand Lake Road west of I-4.
- Turn right onto eastbound Hollywood Way, then turn right again onto southbound Universal Boulevard and proceed to Sand Lake Road east of I-4.
This work is part of the ongoing improvement project to reconstruct I-4 and Sand Lake Road to increase safety and efficiency at the interchange.
FDOT advises motorists to follow all posted detour signs. Construction schedules are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
