About

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is proposing safety improvements at the intersection of Conway Road (S.R. 15) at Simmons Road in Orange County.  Current plans include construction of a new traffic signal at the intersection. The new signal at Simmons Road should help reduce the number of left-turn and angle crashes, provide a location for pedestrians and bicyclists to safely cross Conway Road, and potentially ease median congestion at the Lake Conway Woods/Kroger Street intersection by creating additional gaps in northbound traffic.

Originally, FDOT had proposed constructing a bi-directional median. The proposal was changed after hearing concerns from the community during a public hearing in June 2021, and the current plan is to install a traffic signal at the intersection. A construction contract is currently active for the installation of the traffic signal, and the expected completion time for this project is Spring 2025.
