About

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is evaluating alternative solutions for long-term shoreline stabilization along two segments of U.S. 1 adjacent to the Indian River in Brevard County, Florida:

  •  U.S. 1 from Hiawatha Avenue to Kingswood Drive; 0.9 miles; City of Palm Bay
  •  U.S. 1 from Carolin Street to Laurie Street; 1.9 miles; City of Melbourne

Building on the findings of a feasibility study completed in 2022, the Project Development & Environment (PD&E) Study will evaluate engineering solutions and recommend a preferred alternative that can be implemented to prevent further erosion from wave action at the base of the slope and repair and reestablish the slopes to help prevent future failures.

Please check this website regularly for updates. Project documents, meeting announcements, and other important information will be uploaded as they become available.
