About

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) plans to resurface a segment of State Road (S.R.) 46 from Wayside Drive/Oregon Street to east of S.R. 15 (Monroe Road) in Sanford, Seminole County. In addition to repaving the roadway, the project proposes to make turning movements easier for large trucks at the entrance to the Wawa convenience store, at Rinehart Road and at Elder Road to keep vehicles from encroaching on the sidewalk.

Another proposed safety enhancement is to add raised islands within the connected right turn lanes to reduce potential conflicts. The islands will be placed where gore striping currently exists. Pedestrian improvements include reconstructing sidewalk curb ramps that do not meet current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements and providing separated landings at the intersections of S.R. 46 and Hickman Drive, Rinehart Road and Monroe Road. Some areas of sidewalk that are submerged will be replaced, and a small segment of shared use path will be upgraded.

Drainage improvements are also planned.
