The purpose of this project is to enhance safety along select segments of state roadways in Sumter and Lake counties by installing rumble striping along the center and outside travel lane lines. The rumble stripes help to alert drivers if the vehicle moves outside the travel lane by creating vibration and noise.

The roadways to be included will have speed limits of 50 mph or greater with flush shoulders, and which do not already have auditory or vibratory pavement markings. Roadways included are:

  • south of Lake Dorr Road to south of Lake Road
  • 160-foot section north of ClarkRoad
• U.S. 192 from U.S. 27 to Bali Boulevard
• U.S. 441:
  • south of Berckman Street to Oak Hill Road
  • east of Bluegill Drive to west of Blanton Lane
  • east of S.R. 44 to south of Lincoln Avenue
  • east of James P. Snell Drive to the Orange County line
• S.R. 50 from west of East Side Drive to east of Waterside Pointe Drive
• S.R. 46 at C.R. 46A
• S.R. 429 from Wekiva River Road to the Seminole County line
