About
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is rehabilitating the double-leaf bascule bridge on State Road (S.R.) 3 (Courtenay Parkway) in Merritt Island, commonly known as the Christa McAuliffe Bridge.
Improvements include the rehabilitation of select essential electrical and mechanical components. Other enhancements include a new control system, replacement of underwater cables, and the installation of new traffic safety gates to help ensure smoother, safer operations.
