About
The goal of this project is enhance safety along a segment of Fairbanks Avenue (State Road (S.R.) 426) from South Park Avenue to North Lakemont Avenue in Winter Park, near Rollins College. In addition to resurfacing the roadway, the project will introduce a number of elements to help encourage safer driving speeds and heighten awareness near the curve at Brewer Avenue. The project also aims to enhance pedestrian connectivity.
Planned improvements include raised intersections, speed tables, and new midblock crossings equipped with Pedestrian Hybrid Beacons. Upgraded pavement markings and signage, as well as reconstruction of an existing wall are also proposed.
The concepts were developed with input from a 2019 Coalition Project that invited participation from local property owners, residents, businesses, government partners and other interested individuals.
