About
The goal of this project is to enhance safety along a segment of Fairbanks Avenue (State Road (S.R.) 426) from South Park Avenue to North Lakemont Avenue in Winter Park, near Rollins College. In addition to resurfacing the roadway, the project will introduce several features designed to encourage safer driving speeds and heighten driver awareness near the curve at Brewer Avenue. The project also aims to improve pedestrian connectivity.
Planned improvements include raised intersections, speed tables, upgraded pavement markings and signage, and reconstruction of an existing wall. Three new midblock crossings equipped with Pedestrian Hybrid Beacons will also be installed near Henkel Circle, Trismen Park, and Fletcher Place.

These design features were developed with input from a 2019 coalition project that invited participation from local property owners, residents, businesses, government partners, and other interested individuals.
