About

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) plans to mill and resurface nearly 4 miles of Nova Road (State Road (S.R.) 5A) from Flomich Street north to U.S.1. The project also proposes safety and operational improvements from Granada Boulevard (S.R. 40) to Wilmette Street developed during the corridor planning project. The purpose of the planning project was to identify safety opportunities and evaluate potential solutions.

The preferred concept recommended two travel lanes in each direction from north of Granada Boulevard to Wilmette Street with a raised landscaped median. Improved turn lanes would be provided at median openings to facilitate left turns and U-turns. The project is also proposing a new traffic signal at Old Kings Road. The roadway configuration south of Granada Boulevard would not change.

Get Involved

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will hold a project open house about the planned improvements on Wednesday, June 18, 2025. The open house will be held in person from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Cici & Hyatt Brown Museum of Art, Main Gallery, 352 S. Nova Road, Daytona Beach, FL 32114. Attendees will have an opportunity to view a looping presentation and project displays, speak with project team members, and submit comments or questions.

To provide additional flexibility for stakeholders, the FDOT is also offering online opportunities to get involved:

  • Join an online webinar at 5:30 p.m. to watch a project presentation and submit written questions or comments using the webinar questions box. To attend using this option, register at https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/2003006067137960542. Please make sure to provide adequate time to log in to view the presentation in its entirety.
  • Visit this web page at your convenience to watch the project presentation, view project exhibits, and submit comments and questions directly to the project manager. Project materials will be available beginning June 18 and will be the same as what will be shared at the in-person open house. While the information will remain on the website throughout the project, please provide comments or questions by June 30, 2025, to have the comments included in the open house record.
