About

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is improving safety and operations along 2.5 miles of State Road (S.R.) 44 from just west of Interstate 95 (I-95) to east of South Walker Drive in New Smyrna Beach.

Improvements include resurfacing the roadway, adding street lighting along the corridor, minor drainage improvements, and the addition of sidewalks and curb ramps to comply with current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards. Street lighting and traffic signal improvements will also be completed at the intersections of S.R. 44 and I-95, Colony Park Road, and South Glencoe Road.

In addition, the Volusia-Flagler Transportation Planning Organization (TPO) is funding the construction of a new 12-foot-wide multi-use trail on the north side of S.R. 44 from Memorial Medical Parkway to the Walmart shopping plaza east of Williamson Boulevard.
