PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) plans to resurface U.S. 441 (West Burleigh Boulevard/ State Road (S.R.) 500/S.R. 19) from Lakeshore Boulevard to Lake Eustis Drive in Tavares. The purpose of this project is to rehabilitate the asphalt to maintain a safe and reliable roadway surface for motorists.  This project will also upgrade pedestrian curb ramps, as needed, to comply with current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Motorists should anticipate areas of uneven pavement within the project limits, a common condition during construction when the contractor applies multiple asphalt layers in phases. These roadway conditions are temporary and will improve gradually as the project progresses. Lane closures are restricted to overnight, from 7 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. for open roadways and from 8 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. within 600 feet of an intersection.

While workers are on site, motorists are strongly encouraged to exercise caution and reduce speed to ensure the safety of everyone on the roadway. The project timeline is subject to change and may be adjusted due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances. For the most current project details and lane closure information, please visit FDOT’s Central Florida website at www.cflroads.com.
