This project will partially reconstruct the Interstate 4 (I-4) and Apopka-Vineland Road (State Road (S.R.) 535) interchange to enhance safety and improve access to and from westbound I‑4.

Planned improvements include:

  • Constructing a new loop ramp from northbound Apopka-Vineland Road to westbound I‑4. The ramp will enhance safety and mobility by eliminating the need for motorists to turn left across traffic.
  • Realigning the westbound I‑4 entrance ramp from southbound Apopka-Vineland Road, improving traffic flow and giving motorists more time to merge onto I‑4.
  • Lengthening the westbound I‑4 exit ramp to Apopka-Vineland Road to reduce backups onto the I‑4 mainline.
  • Milling and resurfacing Apopka-Vineland Road and extending storage for left- and right-turn lanes.

Construction began in Fall 2023 and is expected to reach completion in 2027. This project is being constructed in conjunction with FPID No. 449771-1, the combined construction cost is $102,738,411.00.

Lane Closures

  • The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will implement overnight closures at the Interstate 4 (I-4) and Apopka-Vineland Road (State Road (S.R.) 535) interchange on Sunday, October 18, and Monday, October 19. The closures will take place as follows:  

    • From 11 p.m. each night to 6 a.m. the next morning: All lanes of Apopka-Vineland Road under I-4 will close for bridge beam setting.
      • During this closure, left-turn movements from the westbound I-4 exit ramp to Apopka-Vineland Road will be restricted.
    • From 10 p.m. each night to 6 a.m. the next morning: The eastbound I-4 entrance ramp from southbound Apopka-Vineland Road will close for bridge beam setting.

    These closures are part of the ongoing improvement project at the I-4 and Apopka-Vineland Road interchange.

    Detour for Northbound Apopka-Vineland Road, south of I-4:

    Turn right onto eastbound I-4 and take Exit 70 to Daryl Carter Parkway. From the exit ramp, turn left onto westbound Daryl Carter Parkway, then turn left onto southwest Palm Parkway and proceed to Apopka-Vineland Road.

    Detour for Southbound Apopka-Vineland Road, north of I-4:

    Turn right onto westbound I-4 and take Exit 67 to S.R. 536 (Epcot Center Drive/World Center Drive). Keep left through the exit to use the loop ramp to eastbound S.R. 536, then proceed to Apopka-Vineland Road.

    • To access eastbound I-4, turn left onto northbound Apopka-Vineland Road and proceed to the eastbound I-4 entrance ramp.

    FDOT advises motorists to follow all posted detour signs. Construction schedules are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
