About

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is making roadway improvements to Canal Street (U.S. 44 Business Connector) and the North Causeway (State Road (S.R.) 44) in New Smyrna Beach.

As part of these improvements, approximately 0.142 miles of Canal Street will be resurfaced from the S.R. 44 (Lytle Avenue) junction east. The second segment will resurface the North Causeway from North Riverside Drive to DeSoto Drive.

The purpose of this project is to rehabilitate the pavement and extend the roadway’s service life. In addition, FDOT will upgrade pedestrian curb ramps, as needed, to meet current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards, and improve roadway signage and pavement markings throughout the corridor.
