About

This Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) project is intended to enhance safety and operations along Colonial Drive (State Road (S.R.) 50) between Pine Hills Road and Tampa Avenue. As FDOT works to achieve its goal of zero fatalities on Florida’s state highways, it is sharpening its focus on using every tool available to enhance safety for drivers, pedestrians, and bicyclists within every project. As a result, the Department is revisiting the planned improvements for this segment of West Colonial Drive.

The additional review will likely change the design concept originally developed, which focused on improving safety by making changes to the existing median along the corridor. Those changes follow the recommendations of an access management study conducted along the corridor.

FDOT will update the community on the project after the additional safety evaluation is complete.
