About
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is making safety and operational enhancements along State Road (S.R.) A1A (Ocean Shore Boulevard) from north of E. Granada Boulevard (S.R. 40) to north of Roberta Road in Ormond Beach.
The project incorporates features proposed through the North Ormond Beach Area Coalition planning effort. Enhancements include alignment shifts to encourage safer driving speeds, curb and gutter improvements, and the addition of left turn lanes at the intersection of Neptune Avenue. The speed limit of 35 mph throughout the corridor will be reduced to 30 mph during construction and remain 30 mph after project completion.
To improve pedestrian safety, a new 6-foot-wide sidewalk will be constructed on the east side of the road where space allows, and a 10-foot-wide shared-use path will be built on the west side. Existing pedestrian curb ramps will be upgraded to meet current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards. Midblock crossings with raised sections and Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs) will be installed to enhance safety. Lastly, traffic signal improvements, lighting upgrades, and drainage modifications will also be added along the corridor.
