About

This project will make improvements along State Road (S.R.) A1A from north of Granada Boulevard (S.R. 40) to north of Roberta Road in Ormond Beach. The project will repave this portion of S.R. A1A and enhance safety and operations for all users.

The design for the project incorporates elements proposed to the community through the North Ormond Beach Area Coalition planning effort. To help encourage safer driving speeds, the project will introduce subtle alignment shifts and add curb and gutter along parts of the corridor.  Improvements also include adding left turn lanes at the intersection of Neptune Avenue for enhanced traffic operations. The speed limit of 35 mph throughout the corridor will be reduced to 30 mph during construction and remain 30 mph after project completion.

Pedestrian safety enhancements include new sidewalk where possible on the east side of the road, as well as a shared-use path on the west side of the road. Existing pedestrian curb ramps will be upgraded to current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards. Raised midblock crossings with pedestrian activated signals will be installed. Traffic signal, lighting upgrades and drainage improvements will also be included.

Lane Closures
  • Beginning Tuesday, Oct. 28: The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will shift northbound and southbound traffic on State Road (S.R.) A1A between Brooks Drive and North Wedgewood Circle in Ormond Beach to continue construction operations as part of the ongoing safety and resurfacing project.

This transition is expected to begin as early as Tuesday, Oct. 28, and remain in place for two months pending inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

The speed limit of 30 mph throughout the corridor will be maintained. Signage and barrels will be in place to guide motorists through the work zone.

FDOT advises motorists to reduce speed, follow posted signage, and exercise extra caution in the work zone.
