About

The purpose of this project is to widen State Road (S.R.) 50 from two to four lanes. This is to provide increased capacity and improved safety. The project begins at the Hernando/Sumter County line and ends just east of County Road (C.R.) 478A.

Lane Closures
  • Sunday, April 21, through Friday, May 31, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.: Motorists should expect daytime eastbound and westbound intermittent lane closures on S.R. 50 from west of Boogy Road to C.R. 739 for roadway widening, equipment loading/unloading, and paving operations. Please reduce your speed and exercise caution in the work zone.

  • Temporary Road Closure on S.R. 50 at C.R. 751

    A detour is in effect until further notice on S.R. 50 at C.R. 751 as crews work to construct a section of the proposed westbound travel lanes and the connection to C.R. 751. Detour signage will be in place to direct motorists. Flaggers may be present. Two-way traffic on S.R. 50 will remain open at all times. Work may be delayed or rescheduled at any time due to weather or unforeseen events.

    Detour Information: For those wishing to access C.R. 751, eastbound and westbound travelers can make a right or left turn (respectively) at C.R. 739.
