The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is making improvements to three intersections on U.S. 1 in Melbourne: East Strawbridge Avenue (U.S. 192/ State Road (S.R.) 500), East Hibiscus Boulevard and Ballard Drive/Babcock Street.

These intersections will see the current traffic signal system of poles and cables upgraded to a mast arm system. Other highlights of the project include the addition of a westbound right turn lane at the intersection of U.S. 1 and East Strawbridge Avenue. Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) sidewalk curb ramp upgrades, signing and pavement marking modifications are also included in the improvements.
