About

The Corridor Planning and Concept Development studies are designed to evaluate safety and multi-modal transportation improvements along the approximately 1.4-mile section of State Road (S.R.) 518 (Eau Gallie Boulevard) between the Eau Gallie Causeway Bridge and S.R. A1A in Brevard County, Florida. The corridor is located along the border of the City of Indian Harbour Beach and the City of Melbourne. This five (5) lane arterial serves as a primary east-west evacuation route; serving local traffic as well as the many beach visitors.

The initial planning study, completed October 2016, sought to address the safety and mobility needs of the community (for vehicle, transit, bicycle, and pedestrian transportation modes), and advance the long-term vision for the corridor, based on the input received by the public as well as the local agency partners.

The concept development is the next step in collecting necessary information to develop alternatives. Then, those are compared to the ones derived in the planning study, and a preferred alternative(s) are selected. Finally, the concept is prepared for implementation.

More information is available in the project files below. Please note that PS means files from previous Planning Study and CD means files for Concept Development Study.
