Work Type: Widening
Phase: Design
Length: 7.702 miles
Design Cost: $6.1 Million

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has completed the Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study for U.S. 301 (State Road (S.R. 35)) from County Road (C.R.) 470 to State Road (S.R.) 44.

Located in Sumter County, the purpose of this study was to analyze design alternatives to widen approximately 7.8 miles of U.S. 301, improve the U.S. 301 interchange at Florida’s Turnpike, and consider a new corridor alignment for U.S. 301 around the City of Coleman in order to address current and future travel demand. The preferred alternative can be found in the Preliminary Engineering Report below.

At this time, the Design Phase has been programmed in the Tentative Five-Year Work Program in Fiscal Year 2023 however the Right-of-Way and Construction Phases are not programmed at this time. The findings and recommendations from the PD&E study will be refined and updated during the design process. Please check this website regularly for updates.
