Project Details
About
The purpose of this project is to replace the existing State Road (S.R.) 44 bridge over the St. Johns River, also known as the Whitehair Bridge, with a high-level fixed span bridge. During construction, the existing S.R. 44 bridge will remain open for drivers to use while the new bridge is constructed to the south of the existing bridge. After construction, the existing bridge will be removed.

Lane Closures

Wednesday, September 18, through Friday, September 20, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.: There will be daytime closures of C.R. 42 from S.R. 44 (W. New York Ave.) to Crows Bluff Road. Crews will be working on constructing shoulder. Please follow roadway signage and message boards to navigate the detour.
DETOUR: Westbound S.R. 44 traffic wishing to turn right onto C.R. 42 will instead need to make a right on Crows Bluff Road, and then travel back to C.R. 42. Eastbound S.R. 44 traffic wishing to turn left onto C.R. 42 will need to make a left onto Crows Bluff Road roughly half a mile before the closure.
C.R. 42 traffic wishing to turn east or west onto S.R. 44 will need to make a right onto Crows Bluff Road and reconnect to S.R. 44 about half a mile south.
