The purpose of the project is to maintain the existing roadway through milling and resurfacing a segment of U.S. 17 (State Road (S.R.) 15) from Lake Winona Road to south of East 4th Avenue in Pierson. The work will exclude a segment of U.S. 17 that extends about 100 feet on either side of the intersection with S.R. 40.  That area is being resurfaced as part of another project that is repaving S.R. 40 from U.S. 17 to S.R. 11 (FPID 451311-1).

Improvements will also include pedestrian curb ramps upgrades as needed to meet current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.
