EDGEWATER, Fla. – Motorists are advised that Indian River Boulevard (State Road (S.R.) 442) in Edgewater, Volusia County, will be closed from 7 a.m. on Friday, October 30, to 6 p.m. on Monday, November 2, 2026, for the Florida East Coast Railway (FEC) to complete a railroad crossing rehabilitation project between India Palm Drive and Fern Palm Drive.

The project will ensure that the crossing is safer by installing new surface materials and providing a smoother transition over the railroad tracks. Local traffic will have access to local businesses and homes within the closure limits along Indian River Boulevard.

The following detour will be in place:

  • Motorists wishing to head westbound on Indian River Boulevard should travel northbound on U.S. 1, turn left onto westbound Park Avenue, and left onto southbound Air Park Road before returning to Indian River Boulevard.
  • Motorists wishing to head eastbound on Indian River Boulevard should travel northbound on Air Park Road, turn right onto eastbound Park Avenue, and turn right onto southbound U.S. 1 before returning to Indian River Boulevard.

Please see the attached detour map for additional details. The work schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

Motorists are reminded to remain alert, use caution in the work area, and follow all posted detour signs.
