Traffic Advisory: Railroad Crossing Closure on West Amelia Street in Orlando on August 22-24
ORLANDO, Fla. – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) advises motorists of a weekend railroad crossing closure on West Amelia Street between North Garland Avenue and North Orange Avenue in downtown Orlando. This closure is scheduled to begin at 10 p.m. Friday, August 22, and continue through 11 p.m. Sunday, August 24, so that SunRail railroad crossing improvements can be made.
West Amelia Street will be closed to through traffic in both directions between Noth Orange Avenue and North Garland Avenue. Except at the railroad crossing itself, local traffic will be permitted to access businesses within the closure area.
Detours will be in place on West Amelia Street for both westbound and eastbound traffic.
Drivers heading east on Amelia Street will take a left on North Garland Avenue and continue north to West Colonial Drive/State Road (S.R.) 50. Turn right onto eastbound West Colonial Drive, then right onto southbound North Orange Avenue to return to Amelia Street.
Motorists traveling west on Amelia Street will be directed to take a left onto southbound North Orange Avenue, then turn right on westbound West Livingston Street. Turn right onto northbound North Garland Avenue to return to West Amelia Street.
Drivers should remain alert to detours, follow signage, and expect delays. Pedestrians should follow sidewalk detour signs directing foot traffic around the closure.
FDOT is coordinating with LYNX to ensure transit service will continue as scheduled.
