Upcoming Open House for U.S. 17 Multi-Use Trail
VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — The St. Johns River-to-Sea Loop (SJR2C) is one of Central Florida’s most significant trail systems, and the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is working on plans to fill a segment along U.S. 17 from State Road (S.R.) 40 to the Putnam County line through the town of Pierson and community of Seville.
The community is invited to learn more about the design of the proposed multi-use, non-motorized trail at a project open house on Thursday, August 14, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Pierson Community Center, 124 W. Washington Ave., Pierson, FL 32180. Attendees will be able to view a looping presentation and project displays, speak with project team members, and submit comments or questions.
The purpose of the project is to fill a gap in the 260-mile SJR2C Loop. The trail, which is partially completed, offers a paved multi-use path system designed for pedestrians, bicyclists, and other non-motorized uses for both transportation and recreation.
To provide additional flexibility for stakeholders, the FDOT is also offering online opportunities to get involved:
· Join an online webinar at 5:30 p.m. to watch a project presentation and submit written questions or comments using the webinar questions box.
