S.R. A1A Community Listening Session in Melbourne Beach
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and Brevard County District 3 Commissioner Kim Adkinson will hold a community listening session to gather information about public sentiment toward proposed pedestrian improvements on State Road (S.R.) A1A between Hidden Cove Drive and Sea Dunes Drive. The project includes:
· New sidewalk between Hidden Cove Drive and Casseekee Trail
· Two new crosswalks with either just striping and signs, or also with the overhead Pedestrian Hybrid Beacons (PHBs)
o Solway Drive
o South of Oceanway Drive
The PHBs are overhead signals activated by a pedestrian wishing to cross. The signals turn red to stop traffic only when activated.
Feedback received from the community will be used to help determine whether the FDOT builds the PHBs. Hearing from as many residents as possible is vital to the decision-making process. There are multiple ways to share your feedback.
