Traffic Advisory: Overnight Closures on I-4 at S.R. 528 to Begin Sept. 22
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Motorists should be advised that the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is implementing nightly closures of eastbound Interstate 4 (I-4) at State Road (S.R.) 528 (Beachline Expressway) and the westbound I-4 exit ramp to eastbound S.R.528 (Exit 72) on September 22, 25-26, and 29, and October 2-3, 6, and 9-10. The closures will begin as early as 10 p.m. and are expected to reopen by 6 a.m. the following morning.
The closures are necessary for crews to conduct widening operations on a segment of the westbound I-4 exit ramp to eastbound S.R. 528.
During the closure of the westbound I-4 exit ramp to eastbound S.R. 528 (Exit 72), motorists traveling west on I-4 will exit early at Exit 75B to Kirkman Road (S.R. 435) and travel south until they reach the ramp to the traffic signal for Sand Lake Road. Motorists will keep left onto the ramp to the signal and turn left onto eastbound Sand Lake Road. From Sand Lake Road, they will turn right onto southbound John Young Parkway, proceeding to S.R. 528. Motorists should travel west on S.R. 528 to continue west on I-4.
During the eastbound I-4 road closure at S.R. 528, motorists traveling eastbound on I-4 will take Exit 72 to eastbound S.R. 528, get off at Exit 1 and take the loop ramp onto International Drive. From there, they will turn right onto the loop ramp to westbound S.R. 528 and then proceed to eastbound I-4.
FDOT advises motorists to follow all posted signs. Construction schedules are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
Please continue to use caution while driving through active construction zones. Remember to always be alert while riding or driving.
