MARION COUNTY, Fla. – Motorists should be advised that State Road (S.R.) 40 is closed between U.S. 41 (United Spanish Memorial Hwy) and West County Road (C.R.) 328 between Ocala and Dunnellon due to a multi-fatality traffic crash.

With the closure, motorists should avoid the area and take alternate routes.

For the detour, motorists wishing to head eastbound on S.R. 40 should take U.S. 41 northbound to West C.R. 328, then take West C.R. 328 eastbound back to S.R. 40. Motorists wishing to head westbound on S.R. 40 should take West C.R. 328 westbound to U.S. 41, then take U.S. 41 southbound back to S.R. 40.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating. S.R. 40 may be closed for an extended period of time as the investigation is conducted.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) advises motorists to use caution, be alert, and follow all posted detour signs.
