For all single lane closures, drivers should expect delays in the work zone and be alert to directional cones and signage. Pedestrians should follow sidewalk detour signs directing foot traffic.

Work-zone safety is everyone’s job! Most incidents in work zones are preventable if you follow the tips below:

  • Be Alert: dedicate your full attention to the road and your surroundings in the work zone.
  • Adjust Your Speed: Speeding accounts for nearly 37% of all traffic fatalities.
  • Don’t Tailgate: Rear-end collisions are the most common type of work zone crashes.
  • Expect the Unexpected: Be aware of workers and their equipment.
  • Minimize Distractions: Avoid changing the radio, eating, or touching phones and other electronics.
