DELAND, Fla. – In preparation for the approaching storm, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), in coordination with the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG), will lock down six state drawbridges to marine traffic in Brevard and Volusia counties beginning at 8 a.m. Wednesday, November 9.

The bridges will be closed to marine traffic starting Wednesday morning and will remain closed to marine traffic for the duration of severe weather and until the drawbridges and waterways can be assessed for damages.

At this time, the state drawbridges that will be closed to marine traffic are:

  • The North Causeway Bridge in New Smyrna Beach in Volusia County
  • Three bridges on State Road (S.R.) 401 over the Barge Canal at Port Canaveral in Brevard County
  • Two bridges on State Road (S.R.) 3 over the Barge Canal in Merritt Island in Brevard County
