Detour on State Road (S.R.) 46 at Summerlin Avenue in Sanford

Sanford Motorists traveling on State Road (S.R.) 46 (East 25th Street) need to be aware that northbound Summerlin Avenue is closed through Friday, Jan. 25, and then again from Monday, Jan. 28, through Friday, Feb. 1.

State Road (S.R.) 46 will be accessible as only the intersection of Summerlin Avenue and S.R. 46 will be under construction. The contractor will be installing pipe under Summerlin Avenue.

Motorists traveling eastbound on S.R. 46 will need to use Mellonville Avenue to access Summerlin Avenue while those traveling westbound on S.R. 46 will need to use Brisson Avenue to access Summerlin Avenue. Access to the rest of Summerlin Avenue will be provided utilizing Celery Avenue (C.R. 415) as a detour. Please see attached map.

The work is part of the Florida Department of Transportation's (FDOT) project to provide a four-lane roadway, which will include two 11-foot travel lanes and one 6-foot bicycle lane in each direction.

Please note that work schedules may change. Electronic message boards and other signage will be used to safely direct motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists around the work areas. Drivers are asked to pay attention and use caution when traveling through a construction zone.
