Beginning Monday, Dec. 15: Motorists are advised that the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is implementing temporary roadway closures at the State Road (S.R.) A1A (Atlantic Avenue) intersections of Harvey Avenue and Main Street starting as early as 7 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 15, through 5 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 18.
Throughout the closure period, access to Harvey Avenue and Main Street from S.R. A1A will be restricted. Motorists on S.R. A1A wishing to reach these two streets will be detoured. Northbound and southbound traffic along the main line of S.R. A1A will be maintained, with at least one lane open in both directions.
These closures are necessary for the installation of raised intersections on S.R. A1A at Harvey Avenue and Main Street, continuing ongoing construction of raised safety features along this stretch of roadway in Daytona Beach. Raised intersections function like raised crosswalks, helping slow traffic and making pedestrians more visible to drivers as they approach.
In addition to these closures, temporary daytime and nighttime lane closures will be necessary to complete this work.

S.R. A1A at Harvey Avenue Detours
From Harvey Avenue to S.R. A1A
- Harvey Avenue (east of S.R. A1A) to S.R. A1A
  - Head south on South Ocean Avenue until you reach northbound S.R. A1A. From there, to access southbound S.R. A1A, continue north, then turn left on Auditorium Boulevard. Next, turn left onto South Grandview Avenue, then take another left onto Kemp Street to reach southbound S.R. A1A.
- Harvey Avenue (west of S.R. A1A) to S.R. A1A
  - Head south on South Grandview Avenue, then turn left on East International Speedway Boulevard to access S.R. A1A.
From S.R. A1A to Harvey Avenue
- Northbound S.R. A1A to Harvey Avenue (west of S.R. A1A)
  - Turn left on East International Speedway Boulevard, then turn right on South Grandview Avenue to access Harvey Avenue.
- Southbound S.R. A1A to Harvey Avenue (west of S.R. A1A)
  - Turn right on Auditorium Boulevard, then turn left on North Grandview Avenue to access Harvey Avenue.
- Northbound S.R. A1A to Harvey Avenue (east of S.R. A1A)
  - Turn right onto South Ocean Avenue, then head north to access Harvey Avenue.
- Southbound S.R. A1A to Harvey Avenue (east of S.R. A1A)
  - Turn left onto Auditorium Boulevard, following the curve of the road as it turns into North Ocean Avenue. Continue south to access Harvey Avenue.
S.R. A1A at Main Street Detours
From Main Street to S.R. A1A
- Main Street (east of S.R. A1A) to S.R. A1A
  - Head north on North Ocean Avenue, then turn left on Auditorium Boulevard to access S.R. A1A.
- Main Street (west of S.R. A1A) to S.R. A1A
  - Head north on North Coates Street, then turn right on Auditorium Boulevard to access S.R. A1A.
From S.R. A1A to Main Street
- Northbound S.R. A1A to Main Street (west of S.R. A1A)
  - Turn left on Auditorium Boulevard, then turn left again on North Grandview Avenue to access Main Street.
- Southbound S.R. A1A to West Main Street (west of S.R. A1A)
  - Turn right on Auditorium Boulevard, then turn left again on North Grandview Avenue to access Main Street.
- Northbound S.R. A1A to Main Street (east of S.R. A1A)
  - Turn right on South Ocean Avenue, then continue north until you reach Main Street.
- Southbound S.R. A1A to Main Street (east of S.R. A1A)
  - Turn left on Auditorium Boulevard, following the curve of the road as it turns into North Ocean Avenue. Continue south until you reach Main Street.
During construction, the crosswalks at these locations will not be accessible to pedestrians. Pedestrian detour routes will be in place to guide pedestrians around the closures.
FDOT advises motorists to be cautious and alert and to follow all posted detour signs. Construction schedules are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
Work and closures on this project will be paused for the holidays from December 24 through January 2.
Motorists can expect single lane closures on northbound and southbound State Road (S.R.) A1A at the intersection of S.R. A1A and Auditorium Boulevard for paver removal.
